Up to this point, there are six Home Alone movies.
The first two and the fourth movie are part of a single narrative unit focusing on the main character of Kevin.
Whereas, the other three are standalone stories, although Disney’s Home Sweet Home Alone is somehow connected to the original trilogy.

How many Home Alone movies is Macaulay Culkin in?
Macaulay Culkin's presence dominated the early 1990s with his roles in films such as My Girl and Uncle Buck.
But he can thank the Home Alone franchise for his immense popularity as the mischievous Kevin McCallister.
Despite appearing in other films, Macaulay is seen as the face of Home Alone which he can credit his fame to.

Culkin appeared in the first two Home Alone films but decided not to return for the franchise's third instalment.
He wasn't the only one that did not return as director Chris Columbus, composer John Williams and stars Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern all decided against being part of the third release.
According to IMDb, Culkin wasn't keen on returning for Home Alone 3 because he grew tired of playing Kevin and other child roles and thought it was time to move on.
By 1994, the actor was burnt out having appeared in 15 movies since the first release, and so took a hiatus from acting to try to live as normal a life as possible for a few years.
There was an idea for a third instalment with a teenager Kevin McAllister, but Culkin was still avoiding the spotlight.
The studio decided to go in a different direction for the third outing, rebooting the franchise with new child star Alex David Linz.
However, Home Alone 3 was unsuccessful compared to its predecessors, making $79million against a $32million budget.

Macaulay Culkin was the main star of the first two Home Alone movies but the rest each have a different main character.
Home Alone 3 stars Alex D. Linz who played a child with the same name who fends off thieves who are trying to acquire a top-secret computer chip.
Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House stars the character of Kevin McCallister but this time he's played by Mike Weinburg.
The next film in the franchise Home Alone: The Holiday Heist is focused around Finn and his sister, Alexis, are paranoid after a friend tells them that their house is haunted.
What has been said about remaking Home Alone?
Rumours of a Home Alone remake involving Culkin have been swirling for years but it doesn't look like it will happen any time soon.
2021 saw Disney+ release Home Sweet Home Alone but it didn't go down too well.
At the time Culkin said he wished the best to those involved in the reboot as well as confirming that he would not be in the film.
