Two Acadiana restaurants have been recognized on a new list of the best fried chicken spots in the United States.
To celebrate National Fried Chicken Day on July 6, BetUS — an online gambling company — ranked fried chicken restaurants across every U.S. state. The methodology used to create the list used average Google review score, the price of sweet tea and the cost of a standard fried chicken meal.
The higher the Google review score and the lower the cost of tea and fried chicken, the higher the restaurant ranked.
Coming in at No. 4 is Chicken on the Bayou and Boudin Shop in Breaux Bridge, which has been serving cajun food in Louisiana since 1992.
The restaurant's featured menu items are seafood gumbo, boiled seafood and a Bayou Sampler that includes a link of boudin, two pieces of chicken, side of red beans and rice and a biscuit.
"We are confident you will enjoy dining with us, our chef is excited to present their vision to you and all our guests," reads the company website.
Mama's Fried Chicken in Opelousas ranks 19th.
Open since 1977, Mama's Fried Chicken is a family-owned business has been an Opelousas destination for fish baskets, homemade sides and their popular, crispy fried chicken.
"We take so much pride in our product and several of our homemade items are made from scratch, we make a lot of the recipes and I think the community truly appreciates that," said Kristin Cooley, manager for 15 years.
While highlighting the restaurant's homemade recipes, quality of fried chicken, Cooley states the community support is so important and they are always striving to give back.
The rankings are accurate as of June 20, according to BetUs.
