St. Joseph Cathedral, 401 Main St. in Baton Rouge, will host a patriotic-themed church parish potluck luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, in the Parish Hall.

The event will begin immediately after the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the church.

The Rev. J. Cary Bani, the cathedral rector, and the office staff will provide barbecue brisket. Parishioners and friends are invited to share their favorite summertime side dishes and desserts. Cold beverages also will be provided.

Mike Vaughn Ministries hosts gospel concert

The Rev. Mike Vaughn will lead a night of Southern gospel music on Friday, July 5, at Good News Fellowship Church, 13101 La. 442 West in Tickfaw.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and singing will start at 6:30 p.m. Vaughn will open the program and at 7:30 p.m., special guests The Barber Brothers Quartet will perform.

This is a free concert, but a love offering will be received. A concession stand will serve desserts.
