Members of the Greater Baton Rouge Model Railroaders are the first to attest that there's something special about operating model trains.

For them, it transports them back to childhood, when they received their first model train, which transported them to magical, imaginary places. Which is why many of them still operate their model train sets on tracks running through intricate layouts, or dioramas, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month in the Old Hickory Railroad Museum, 3406 College St., Jackson.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by and experience the magic of these trains. Admission is free.
