Debt crises. Wall Street occupation. The collapse of the Eurozone. There's a ton of information, numbers and data flying around about the financial system, but not much understanding. It's hard to see what's going on.
So we've teamed up with this blog to offer a data-visualization challenge.
Can you make sense of money panics?
We give you the data. You supply the creativity. If your entry wins, there's $5000 available in prize money.
The best thing is: you don't have to be able to design to enter.
We have a whole category dedicated to 'napkin' entries: hand- or computer- drawn sketches that get the idea across. We want to open the challenge to anyone. See the rules for 'napkin' entries.
We at InformationIsBeautiful are running the challenge. It's sponsored by market research company, Kantar, who are providing prize money. We'll exhibit the shortlisted entries here on the Datablog.
Closing date is: Monday 5th December 5pm GMT / 1pm EST.
The data
Feel free to use any datasets from the datablog in this challenge.
Euro Debt Crisis: article | data
US Foreign Aid Budgets: article | data
Billions: article | data
We also just found this: Eurozone crisis dashboard (could be useful)
Feel free to poke around the Datablog and see if you can find any other relevant datasets too.
Good luck!
