The Stand, Thu 31 to Aug 25

One of this country's best comedy products has always been satire, and the latest in a long line of great British satirists is tracksuit-wearing, sport obsessive, Harpo Marx-lookalike Andy Zaltzman. You may have heard him alongside John Oliver on Radio 4's Political Animal, and if so you'll know that his particular brand of satire blends hard-hitting intelligent political observation with surreal whimsy. For his Edinburgh show this year he's unbuttoning the cloak of civilisation, only to be perturbed and perplexed at what he finds. Hopefully after an hour in his company, you will be laughing at his jokes enough to have been distracted from the awful truth he may uncover.
