Comedy preview: Michael Winslow, Dublin

If you lie awake at night concerned about the cast of Police Academy's employment opportunities since the film franchise finished, you might be pleased to hear that at least one of them is still earning a living. Michael Winslow, the one who makes all the noises, was a stand-up since long before he made a name for himself as Sgt Larvell "Motor Mouth" Jones. Although an hour of comedy beatboxing may sound too much, Winslow is a warm performer whose skills are genuinely impressive. His set largely sees him doing musical pastiches, including one bit about how Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song was actually written when Robert Plant caught his finger in a door.
