The UN secretary general, António Guterres, said Palestinians in Gaza were being forced to move 'across a landscape of destruction and death' and that civilians were being pushed into 'ever deeper circles of hell'.

Speaking at an Unrwa pledging conference on Friday, Guterres said: 'Recent days have brought yet more evacuation orders by Israeli authorities, yet more civilian suffering and yet more bloodshed.' He said nowhere in Gaza was safe, 'everywhere is a potential killing zone'.

Guterres also said more UN workers had been killed in this conflict than any other in UN history
