A petition calling for Texas Christian University to remove women’s basketball player Sedona Prince from the team’s roster following allegations of verbal and physical abuse by her ex-girlfriend Olivia Stabile has received over 160,000 signatures at the time of writing.

Prince faced controversy over the past week after Stabile took to TikTok to detail the tumultuous end of their relationship in a 10-part series, which she dubbed “Who the Fuck Did I Take To Mexico?”

According to the 22-year-old TikTok star, the couple broke up during a trip to Mexico that Stabile had planned to celebrate Prince’s birthday. During their time there, she alleges, among other things, that Prince pushed her off a moving ATV and also left her alone in the jungle in the middle of the night. She also says that Prince threatened to pursue legal action against her if she spoke about the break-up on social media.

“I’ve taken the time to try and stay silent, protect someone’s peace who has done nothing but disturb my own,” Stabile said. “But then when I get a text message by the same person telling me that what I have been posting online has been tarnishing the love that we shared, that it’s disturbing their healing journey… What are you healing from? I’m the one who’s having to re-learn how to love.”

This isn’t the first time that one of Prince’s break-ups has attracted online attention. Before dating Stabile, she was in a relationship with TikToker Rylee LeGlue, who later alleged that Prince cheated on her. LeGlue recently replied to a TikTok commenter asking if she’d watched Stabile’s videos, writing, “Truly glad she made it out. Very parallel. The behaviors/words/actions. Very triggering. Very scary. She wasn’t exaggerating a single part. I don’t want to insert myself any more than that luv u mwah.”

In response to Stabile’s allegations, a user named Leah Cole started a Change.org petition calling for TCU to remove Prince from their women’s basketball team.

“As an individual who has personally experienced the deep pain caused by abuse, it breaks my heart to see a known domestic abuser maintain a place of respect within our society, essentially being shielded by a reputable university,” Cole wrote. “We firmly believe that allegations of such grave misconduct should be taken seriously and addressed urgently.

At the time of writing, Texas Christian University hasn’t publicly responded to the petition. The basketball star first made headlines in 2021 after sharing a viral video calling out disparities between weight room equipment provided for women’s players versus men’s players at that year’s NCAA Tournament.

Across the internet, sapphics are lamenting a deficit of so-called "mascs." The real problem is worryingly narrow ideals of whiteness, thinness, and androgyny.

TMZ reports that Prince responded to Stabile’s allegations in an Instagram statement, writing, “The amount of hate, bullying, and death threats that my family, friends, and I have been receiving is dangerous, irresponsible, and disturbing.”

The 24-year-old went on to claim that Stabile's story surrounding the break-up has featured “false narratives and inaccurate information that do not give honesty and transparency.”

“As I continue to take some time off and continue to focus on my well-being, health, and commitments, I sincerely want nothing but the best for everyone, especially those I was able to share my life with in a relationship,” Prince continued. “This is a very serious matter that I don’t take lightly… I will let my legal counsel take it from here.”
