The mother explained that previously, she got her son’s school shoes from Clarks, a shop where many of us will have had our feet measured, but they weren’t even lasting a term.

As a result, the bargain hunter asked for recommendations on where else to buy school shoes, and has since found a pair that don’t scuff and look smart.

The savvy shopper, who is from the UK and posts online under the username ‘The High Street Mums’, took to social media to show off the black school shoes, leaving many open-mouthed.

The mum shared her clip with the caption ‘The BEST boys' school shoes!!’ and said: “I just really quickly wanted to come on and share these boys' school shoes with you.

“Last year I came on here and I asked for boys' school shoes recommendations, because we were literally not even getting a term out of our Clarks ones, and hundreds of you recommended these.”

The high-street shopper gave her followers a close up look at the Adidas Black Tensaur Sport 2.0 Trainers, which are just £23.

You won’t find these shoes in Clarks - instead, they are available to buy and order online from Next, Sports Direct, JD Sports and Schuh

Thrilled with her find, the mother added: “They are quite literally a game changer - they're £23 and they're basically just a black trainer.”

But although they look like trainers, this mum claimed that they are allowed at her son’s school as part of the uniform.

Not only this, but she also praised them as incredibly comfortable too, as she concluded: “They're comfy, they don't scuff and they look smart.”

And with school shoes and trainers ranging from £40 from Clarks - it's no surprise that this super saver was thrilled with her cheap find.

Mum left 'chuffed' as she finds second hand uniform stall in her local Dunelm, and it'll save parents hundreds

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @thehighstreetmums_, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up a jaw-dropping 450,300 views.

Social media users were impressed with the school shoes and parents rushed to the comments to rave about the high-street footwear.

One person said: “They lasted my son the whole school year!!”

Whilst someone else described the trainers as the “best school shoes ever!”, a fourth parent explained: “Omg……….these were a game changer for me, Clarks and Kickers were costing me a fortune!”

How can I save money on school uniforms?

IF you are struggling to afford the cost of school uniform or PE kit, you may be able to apply for a grant from your local council - but the criteria vary from council to council.

This is usually in the form of a one-off payment paid directly into your bank account. Some councils will reimburse payments made to approved retailers.

You can ask your local council what help is available and when you need to apply.

If you can't get targeted help from your council, there are other options to get cheap uniform.

Speak to your school to see if they can offer you some clothing.

Some charities offer help to families in need too. Charity Turn2Us has a free grants search tool on its website which you can use to find out what help is available to you.

Charity shops can also be a good place to find cheap school uniform.

Meanwhile, another mum posted: “Sssssshhhhhh!!!! I’ve been gate keeping these little treasures for years.”

But at the same time, not everyone was convinced that the trainers would be suitable for their child’s school uniform.

One woman asked: “Aren’t they trainers not shoes? My kids' school doesn't allow trainers.”
