Ultra-rare Shelby Cobra Roadster owned by film legend up for sale at eye-watering six figure price
AN ICONIC motor that once belonged to Sylvester Stallone can be yours to buy… for an eye-watering six-figure sum.
A rare Shelby Cobra Roadster, which is one of only 1,000 ever made, is being sold by auction house Bonhams in London as a private sale for a staggering £860,000.
This 2070 model has switched owner multiple times in recent years - having been sold to a collector before it was acquired four years later by motors dealer Barnaby Brokaw.
The car fanatic then gifted it to Hollywood superstar Stallone, 77, from the studio which produced his 1986 movie, Cobra.
However, the actor only enjoyed the Cobra briefly before it was acquired by Alan Rapinski, founder of the Armor-All company.
The black sports car, which boasts a gorgeous red leather interior, can reach a stop speed of 145mph and reaches 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds.
According to Bohams, it comes with documentation including a FIVA ID card, a professional valuation report, Belgian registration papers and a valid Controle Technique.
The listing reads: “Rightly regarded as one of the all-time great classic sports cars, the muscular, fire-breathing Cobra succeeded in capturing the hearts of enthusiasts like few of its contemporaries.
”Only 1,000-or-so Cobras of all types were built between 1962 and 1967, but such was the model's enduring popularity that production was resumed in 1982 under the auspices of Brooklands-based Autokraft.
“Early Cobras are offered for sale only rarely, and '2070' represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a fine example of this classic and highly sought-after Anglo-American sports car.”

This comes after a Mercedes previously owned by a basketball legend Michael Jordan hit the market for an eye-watering price.
The amazing collector's item is currently available on Car and Classic for a whopping £107,000 (US$135,000).
Meanwhile, a major car company's "upcycled EV" version of a Aston Martin DB6 with an interior made from eggshells has gone up for sale for £1 million.
The twist on the classic sports car has been released by the conversion specialists at Lunaz Design.
It comes complete with fast charging, regenerative braking and a 255-mile range.
The electric motor lays down a hefty 375 horsepower, about the same as a M-series BMW.
