Who is Niko Omilana?

Niko Omilana was born on March 4, 1998, in Staffordshire.

He became popular for posting prank videos to his YouTube channel, and is probably best known for his viral video titled I Pranked America's Most Racist Man.

Omilana is also a star on Instagram, where he boats 3million followers (as of July 2024).

At the start of September 2022, Omilana was announced as a member of the YouTube Allstars football team.

The Allstars was created by British YouTube group Sidemen back in 2016 to play charity football matches.

As of June 2024, Omilana reportedly has an estimated net worth of around £1million.

On Instagram the viral star commands up to £1,000 per sponsored post.

Which political party is Niko Omilana a member of?

Omilana is not a member of any political party as of July 2024.

When he ran for mayor of London in 2021, he said he was part of the Niko Defence League, but he stood as an independent candidate in the 2024 General Election.

Independent candidates do not need to be chosen by a political party to stand for election, and are not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association.

Omilana got only 160 votes in Richmond and Northallerton.

Rishi Sunak won the new seat in the 2024 General Election, following changes to the constituency boundary.

He was the incumbent MP for Richmond, a seat he held from 2015, and by winning the new constituency avoided becoming the first sitting prime minister to lose their place in Parliament.

Omilana came in eighth place in the race to become MP for Richmond and Northallerton — winning just 0.3 per cent of the vote.

He finished behind Rishi Sunak of the Conservatives (23,059 votes), Tom Wilson of Labour (10,874), Lee Taylor of Reform UK (7,142), Daniel Callaghan of the Lib Dems (4,322), Kevin Foster of the Green Party (2,058), Count Binface of the Count Binface Party, and independent candidate Brian Richmond.

The Youtuber also performed an idiotic stunt during Sunak's speech congratulating Labour for its landslide victory.

As the former PM apologised for his party's loss, Omilana stood behind him holding a piece of paper with the letter 'L' — signifying 'loser' — printed on it.

When did he run for London Mayor?

In April 2021, Omilana announced that he would be running for London Mayor.

On April 2, 2021, he shared a video on Instagram urging his (then) 1.1 million followers to vote for him in the 2021 London Mayoral Election.

He said: "I'm Niko Omilana, founding father and supreme leader of the Niko Defence League and I am running for mayor of London.

"As you can see I'm taking this extremely seriously, everything up until this moment has been a warm-up, a light jog, a walk in the park but now we are about to take the nation's biggest city.

"There is no greater leader in this country than me so please my friends, vote Niko for mayor of London on May 6th... or your breath stinks!

"Make sure you are registered to vote as well, you don't want to miss out on this one."

He shared his full manifesto to Twitter which included telling Boris Johnson to "shush" and outlined his plan to rename Big Ben.

While Omilana was not elected as mayor, he did come fifth, beating out some much bigger names in politics, like Laurence Fox and Piers Corbyn.
