FOOTBALL fans were left in hysterics at a worker attempting to stop stadium flooding by kicking the water down a drain.

Seats were drenched by the flood, while water also covered the area next to the pitch as staff acted quickly to try and stop the situation getting out of hand.

This all happened at the same time as Turkey and Georgia fans clashed violently at one end of the ground.

A number of workers were filmed sweeping huge amounts of water into a drain by the side of the pitch.

But one man caught the attention of fans as he was seen kicking water down the drain.

Another added: "Obsessed with this guy that comes along and tries to help by kicking the water with his foot."

A third replied: "We all have a guy like this in every group project 😂."

The flooding did not hold up the match as it kicked off on time and became one of the best games of the tournament so far.

Turkey took the lead through a stunning strike by Mert Muldur, before Georges Mikautadze levelled shortly after the half-hour mark.

Arda Guler restored Turkey's advantage with a second-half screamer, before Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu made sure of the victory in added time after Georgia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili went up for a corner in search of an equaliser.
