WWE superstar Bobby Lashley has confirmed he underwent surgery after a "freak accident" amid intense contract speculation surrounding his future.

Lashley, 48, has been among the most dominant professional wrestlers in the world ever since his return to the company in 2018 as he went on to become a two-time world champion.

However, The All Mighty hasn't been seen in the ring since May as he got injured during a non-televised live event in France and had to go under the knife.

The ex-WWE Champion shed light on his fitness status but added that he is making incredible progress and could be back in action in less than a month.

Lashley told The Laboratory: "I had surgery. A little boo boo, happened in France during a match. Just a freak accident.

"They told me I wasn’t supposed to be back for six months. Six weeks, I have the brace off, working out.

"My physical therapist was like, 'You’re not supposed to be able to do that'. I’m different. I’m working out and lifting.

"I don’t think I’m two months out of surgery now and I’m hitting it pretty hard.

"I think I’ll be ready and cleared in less than a month. At that time, we’ll see what happens."

The fans, however, worry they will never see Lashley in a WWE ring again as his contract status is reportedly up in the air.

Reports suggested the American grappler's deal would run out this past weekend.

Last week, it was also reported that most people in WWE had been "under the impression" the heavyweight is leaving.
