LIV Golf is a breakwaway golf competition that has huge financial backing from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund and was started in 2022.
On June 6, 2023, LIV Golf agreed to merge with the PGA Tour, after controversy about players leaving the long-standing American-based competition for huge pay increases. The merger should be completed by the end of the 2023 season.
