I’ve lost £1,000 after Ryanair cancelled my flight twice in 24 hours – it nearly ruined my holiday

A WOMAN has been left £1,000 out of pocket after Ryanair cancelled her flight - only to rebook new ones and cancel the previous flights again.

Laura Clarke, from West Lancashire, was travelling with the budget airline from Manchester to Bordeaux with her sister and friend.

The group had booked the trip to celebrate a 40th birthday.

However just days before she was due to fly, Sarah was emailed to say their flights had been cancelled.

Laura told the Mail: "We had already spent £455 on the hotel and £250 on a wine tour so we didn't want to lose out."

The 37-year-old was forced to fork out another £939 for their new outward flights - despite her previous return flights costing just £250.

Due to the new flights being via Teeside Airport instead, she also had to pay £99 for a hotel room.

The group were then told by Ryanair that their previous flight would go ahead as usual.

It was only when Laura contacted the airline that they said it was not going ahead, again.

She said: "I thought it was odd when Ryanair emailed to say the flight was going ahead which is why I rang them and the lady on the phone confirmed it was back on.

"When I contacted Ryanair I then got another text and email to say that the flight was cancelled because of the air traffic controllers, but luckily I hadn't cancelled anything I'd arranged."

Laura said there was "lots of panicking" as they had to rearrange their flights.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: "This flight from Manchester to Bordeaux (March 31) was cancelled due to repeated French ATC strikes.

"Affected passengers were notified on March 28 and advised of their options.

"However, this passenger received a further notification in error on March 30 that this flight would operate as scheduled, which was quickly rectified that same morning confirming that this flight was indeed cancelled due to French ATC strikes."
