This Morning bosses have been pairing different presenters together for months, ever since Holly, 42, left the show in October last year.

Her departure came just months after former co-host Phillip, 61, quit the programme.

Fans have loved seeing Rylan - who first started working on the show in 2013 - back on the programme, and have speculated if he would take up a full-time role as a main host.

But speaking to The Sun's TV Mag, he said with a laugh: "Absolutely not, are you on drugs?

"Do you know what? I’ve worked at This Morning for like 6/7 years, I loved it. I sort of, for want of a better term, cut my teeth on This Morning alongside Big Brother and yeah, it was a lovely time.

"I then left This Morning and sort of popped back every now and again, over the last few months they’ve been trying new things and they obviously wanted me to go back because they know I can do the job and I can sit with anyone next to me.

"It’s been really, really fun and I’ve loved it, but no, I think what’s really lovely about that situation is that I can pop in for a week, do a good job, see everyone, I get on with all the crew and it’s nice to be around everyone, have a bit of a laugh and leave. And to not have to sit there and go: ‘Oh my God, I’ve got to do this every day now for a year.’"

Indeed Rylan has a number of other projects on the go alongside his appearances on This Morning.

He will soon be seen fronting new Prime Video show Hot Mess Summer, which will see eight twenty somethings head to Zante in Greece believing they're off to party but in reality, they're there as staff to run a pool bar.

At the other end of the scale, Rylan will also be presenting a documentary called Rylan: Homophobia, Football and Me on TNT Sports.

With so many irons in the fire, Rylan admits he didn't want to be tied to This Morning as a permanent host, no matter how much he loves being on the programme.

He said: "Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing job, it’s one of the best jobs in telly, but looking at what we’re talking about today, I want to be free to do other stuff.

"The phone might ring tomorrow and it’s like: ‘You’re going to do a month on a film’ and I don’t want to sit there and have to go: ‘I can’t do something I want to do because I’m tied somewhere else’. I’ve been very lucky."
