It dominated the global top 10 charts for six weeks after becoming a runaway hit in 91 countries.

The show, which stars Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo and Eddie Marsan, follows the lives of five South Londoners who are unified by a family history of sickle cell disease.

The group go on to develop a slew of unexpected superpowers and have to fend off an organisation who has set out to entrap them.

Speaking to Tudum, he said: "I can’t wait for the world to see Supacell, Season 2."

He added: “I’ve always had it [mapped out] to Season 3. I know how Season 2 ends.

“I’ve got stuff planned for this story. I’ve had this in my head for years, so I’m ready to go.

“Supacell Season 1 is my Batman Begins. It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like. Season 2 is when you really see what they become.

"That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything. It’s going to be interesting when we get into the writers’ room.”

The news that the smash hit would be back was met with huge excitement from fans who were left buzzing to hear that the gritty programme would be making a comeback.
