CASUALTY has been pulled off air for months in a major schedule shake-up.

The BBC One medical drama has been replaced by bosses in a move that will leave fans seething.

Casualty will remain off air until this Christmas, with its usual Saturday slot offered up to US drama Apples Never Fall Far.

An exact date for its return is yet to be announced by the Beeb.

It means last weekend's episodes of Casualty was fans' last fix until this December.

Fans got double the amount of action from Holby City hospital with two episodes airing on BBC One.

The first instalment was first screened at 8.25pm, which was followed by the later edition at 9:15pm.

Meanwhile, the next series of Casualty will kick off with a Christmas special - the first in a decade.

A cryptic teaser trailer was posted on social media by the long-running show's social media account leaving fans thrilled.

According to the BBC, the special episode will "celebrate the gift of giving".

Bosses also promise that the story will be told in an 'innovative [and] format-breaking way."

Details are currently thin the plot and what is due to come at the end of the year.
