She said: “There are no words to explain the excitement I have to return home to make my stage debut in such an iconic role.

“I am so inspired by the brilliant actors who have played Sally in past productions around the world and in this one in the West End.

“I cannot wait to be a part of this brilliant cast and production.”

Cara will take over the role from singer Self Esteem, 37, on March 11 for a 12-week run ending on June 1.

It will see her showcase her singing abilities with the title track and the song Maybe This Time.

She will star alongside Olivier Award-winning actor Luke Treadaway, 39, as The Emcee.

The star, born in Hammersmith, West London, has starred in several films including Paper Towns, Suicide Squad and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

However, she sparked concerns in September 2022 when she was seen acting erratically in Los Angeles and later entered rehab and got sober.

Last year she said: “Work is extremely important, but work is secondary because my self-work is the most important thing.”

The revival of Cabaret first opened in December 2021 with Jessie Buckley, 34, and Eddie Redmayne, 42, in the leading roles, going on to win seven Olivier Awards.
