Posting in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one user asked: "Any ideas how I can kill weeds on my brick paved driveway?

"I’ve tried the off-the-shelf bottled weed killer but need something stronger."

The post was flooded with helpful replies from gardening lovers.

One person suggested: "Boiling water straight from the kettle works perfectly."

Replying to this comment, another person said: "After the boiling water is poured on the weeds, add a generous dash of salt.

"Super results."

Agreeing with this, another person added: "Pour boiling water on them, it's cheap as chips".

A third person gave the same suggestion: "My Nan used to pour boiling water from the kettle on them.

"The weeds were dead the next day."

Many people in the group urged the gardening fan not to use chemical weed killer on their plants as this can destroy wildlife.

Therefore, boiling water is a great natural alternative, that won't harm humans or animals.

It is also a practically free method of killing weeds and only costs the price of boiling a kettle (about 3p).

When pouring boiling water on the weeds, make sure to keep the water away from any plants you want to keep, as the water will kill these as well.

As soon as you pour boiling water on the weeds, they should begin to wilt.

This is because the extreme heat of the water will dehydrate the weed's root system.

Make sure to be extra careful when carrying out this method, as you could easily burn yourself with the boiling water.
