One slightly lesser known detail, however, is that you can get turned away for one specific reason.

TikTok user Lyle the Instructor shared a video on the subject, informing followers how they can avoid this.

In the caption of the post, he revealed: "They won't do your test if your car smells of smoke or cigarettes".

At the beginning of the video he can be seen sitting in a car.

He said: "An examiner can turn you down and not do your driving test if you smoke or if you vape inside your car".

Lyle advises people not to smoke or vape inside their car the week of their test, to ensure there is no smell.

He also advises viewers to clean their car to further remove any chance of smoke smells.

He explained: "They don't have to do the test, they can turn you down and say 'look, car smells of cigarettes, I'm not a smoker and I'm not going to be doing the test in that car, so we can't do it today unfortunately' - they can tell you that".

He adds that usually the smell of cigarettes remains in the car for at least a couple of days, especially in the roof.

Concluding the video, he advises getting your car cleaned, detailed and diffusing it with Febreeze and an air freshener.

He added: "Get that smell out before the driving test because they may not do your driving test if they don't like the smell of your car - or if it's really dirty".

It comes as another TikTok user shared five tips that helped her pass her test.

Jayde Court shared a short video to the platform for her followers.

She said: "This is just like five tips and tricks that I used in my driving test that hopefully you'll find useful as well."

The first tip she shares is watching Dane Tyghe's YouTube videos, focusing on turning, reversing around a corner, questions you're asked before the test and road signs.

Jayde said: "I'd look at these like a day or two before my test just to refresh my memory and I feel like that helped."

The next tip she shares came straight from a driving instructor, who advised her not to overcomplicate the simple things.

She explained: "The example he used was - if you're coming up to a junction, you have traffic coming from left and right and you're like 'aw I could have gone there, will I go now or will I not?'"

His advice was to look left and right, and ask if you can go or not - with her adding: "That's as easy as it is".

Her third tip is one that she says "every person who's doing a driving test is so sick of hearing and it's your observation".

She explains that she nearly gave herself whiplash in her turn about and her reverse around the corner as both were areas she was very confident about, saying she was "going to make sure I do them perfectly."

Jayde added: "I literally looked out every window, every crevice, every mirror, over both shoulders - I was constantly looking around, and I didn't get a single mark on observation in either of those."
