A LUXURIOUS motor that’s a rare sight on British roads in 2024 can be yours for a bargain price.

The little-known Citroen C6 was a high-class set of wheels that was produced by the French car brand from 2005 to 2012 - and fewer than 1,000 Brits bought them new in that time.

The C6 has become a cult favourite among petrolheads today thanks to its sleek beauty, sophisticated hydropneumatic suspension and gorgeous leather interior.

The C6 is also known for being spacious inside, with huge front seats designed to give occupants plenty of comfort.

They also came packed with the latest tech of the time, with standard equipment including an active rear spoiler, xenon headlights, a head-up display and tyre-pressure monitors.

Options included the ‘Lounge Pack’ which boasted powered and heated rear seats.

The C6 even featured in an episode of the BBC’s motoring show Top Gear, where James May and Richard Hammond both waxed lyrical about the car.

The presenters remark on its “beautiful design” and “amazing technological features” which are said to be the “top tier of luxury”.

YouTube star Jonny Brighton of CarsWithJB is also a fan and recently featured the car on his channel.

He said: “It’s an absolutely brilliant car which offers luxury far beyond what you expect from a Citroen – and yes, it’s stunning.”

It became a much-loved mode of transport for the French elite, with France Presidents Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy both choosing the C6 as their official car of choice.

From new, the stylish motor could set you back as much as £39,700 - presumably for the top-of-the-range model with all the trimmings.

Today, despite their rarity, they’re an absolute bargain.

HowRareIsMyCar claims just 355 are currently on UK roads with a valid MOT, but depsite that we were able to find an example on AutoTrader for just £2,695.

This 2008 model has a sizeable 123,000 miles on the clock, but features both an automatic gearbox and a diesel engine, and appears to be in very good condition.

This comes as another rare car produced by Ford in the 1990s and 2000s as a replacement for the Capri can be yours for under £4,000.

Elsewhere, Fiat are set to release a hybrid version of a stylish hybrid that's £9,000 cheaper than its EV version.
