The viral footage shows the boat sat almost vertically on the dry dune with baffled onlookers unsure on what to do.

The dragging marks made in the sand suggest the boat veered at a dangerous speed, especially to reach the height it did on the sand dune.

The speed boat crashed onto the small island of S'Espalmador, located between Ibiza and Formentera in the Spanish Balearic Islands.

The emergency services informed nearby vessels of the crash and immediately sent a rescue ship and helicopter to the scene.

Two crew members were sat with the speedboat who were both unharmed.

They also insisted on staying with the vessel instead of being transferred to Ibiza and said a company was coming to remove the vessel, reports say.

Following the incident the area was blocked off to prevent nosey tourists from approaching the speedboat.

The yacht is believed to be a 59ft Pershing sport yacht worth an eye-watering £300,000.

The Formentera government gave the boat owner 48 hours to remove all possible contaminants from the vessel, like fuel and power batteries.

They also gave the owner 72 hours to fully remove the wreckage from the sand dune, Luxury Boat News reports.

They said this was necessary to prevent causing further damage to the natural environment.

The bizarre incident comes after another vessel exploded in Costa Blanca, injuring a Brit tourist.

The blast took place at a pleasure port in Cabo Roig, a popular expat and holiday town just south of Torrevieja in the Orihuela Costa area.

Police treated the explosion as an accident.

A spokesperson for the Civil Guard said: “An emergency response coordination centre received the alert just before 10am Tuesday.

“The calls that came in said there had been a possible explosion on a pleasure boat in Cabo Roig port.

“Civil Guard officers based in nearby Pilar de la Horadada confirmed there had been an accidental explosion that had left three people injured when they arrived.
