AN EGYPTIAN pop star has been arrested for making a "morally disastrous" music video - just weeks after her compatriot was jailed for eating a banana "suggestively".

Outraged prosecutors ordered cops in Cairo detain singer Leila Amer after watching her dance suggestively in a video for her song "Look at your mother".

Her arrest comes four weeks after fellow star Shyma was handed a two-year jail term for "inciting debauchery" with a "sexually explicit” music video showing her eating a banana.

Lawyer Ahmed Mahran, who alerted authorities to the tape, told local journalists that Amer's video was a "moral disaster" and a “great risk” to Egypt.

He ranted: “These works represent an attack on society and the destruction of the state, it being an Islamic country.

"Such works contributed significantly to the level our society has reached, including the spread of sexual harassment and inappropriate words".

"The clip is a disgrace to public modesty and incites immorality, violating Article 269 of the Penal Code."

Amer was hauled off for questioning after her video "Boss Oumek" ("Look at your mother") sparked outrage in the increasingly conservative Islamic republic.

The saucy video includes "a sensual oriental dance" and "provocative gestures".

Shyma was meanwhile caged for appearing in a mock classroom licking a banana in front of a chalkboard scrawled with the words "Class #69".

And in September a Belgian model claimed she was flung in jail after she was caught posing for a secret photoshoot inside one of Egypt's ancient temples.

Marisa Papen, who describes herself as a "free-spirited and wildhearted expressionist", travelled with photographer Jesse Walker to Egypt for a spectacular photoshoot inside and outside some of the country's most famous landmarks.

She said: "I knew that a prison in Egypt looks slightly different then in Belgium or any Westernised country but I had no idea what to expect before actually going in.

"The first cell we encountered was packed with at least 20 men, some were passed out on the floor, some were squeezing their hands through the rails, some were bleeding and yelling.
