Where is a walk-in vaccination centre near me and do they offer booster vaccines?

THE HSE has 36 walk-in clinics throughout Ireland offering vaccines without an appointment and also booster jabs are available for specific groups.

The walk-in clinics are open to children 12 and up, but 12 – 15 years olds must have a parent or guardian in attendance.

Most of the clinics offer children or adults who need the first or second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Some clinics offer other brand vaccines and people are advised to check with the clinic before they attend.

BOOSTER DOSE

This week walk-in clinics have started offering booster jabs for certain groups, with specific times and days available.

People are advised to wait at least five months after finishing their COVID-19 vaccine course before getting a booster dose.

People who had the single-dose Janssen must wait at least three months before getting a booster.

For those who had a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and do not want a second dose of AstraZeneca, the mRNA vaccine can be taken as a second dose instead.

High-risk, vulnerable people, health workers and people aged 60 to 69 are currently able to avail of booster jabs in the walk-in centres without an appointment.

However, they must adhere to designated time slots for walk-ins and also have had their first two shots as well as photo ID.

Health workers must provide evidence of their place of work.

Boosters will also soon be rolled out to everyone aged over 16 after a recommendation by the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) today.

Pregnant women will be offered the booster first followed by people in their 40s and then down the age cohorts in descending order.

The extra jab will be given at least five months after a person's second dose or three months if given the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
