ARSENAL are plotting a shock move for Wolves keeper Dan Bentley - 15 years after he left their academy.

The Gunners want Bentley, 30, as cover for his former Brentford team-mate David Raya.

Bentley is behind Jose Sa in the pecking order and made just five Premier League appearances last season.

And coach Gary O’Neil is in the market for a new reserve — with  Kasper Schmeichel, 37, an option.

Bentley may fancy the Arsenal move even if it is to be THIRD choice as Aaron Ramsdale is priced at £50million and unlikely to find a taker.

The ex-Gunners academy star left the club aged 15, joining Southend in 2009.

He later joined Brentford and Bristol City before signing for Wolves in January 2023.

Bentley has since provided cover for Sa, making just nine appearances in 18 months at Molineux.

However, he has kept three clean sheets across those matches and played 67 minutes against Arsenal in December last year.

As well as Raya and Ramsdale, Mikel Arteta also has Estonia international Karl Hein amongst his options.

Nottingham Forest have also been linked with a move for the veteran goalkeeper in recent weeks.

He made 284 top-flight appearances for Leicester and Manchester City before joining French side Nice in 2022.

Schmeichel is fresh from captaining Denmark at Euro 2024, having played every minute of their campaign.

The 1992 winners drew with England during the group stage before suffering a 2-0 exit at the hands of Germany in the last 16.
