MUNSTER and Connacht have led tributes to Rory Burke following his sudden and tragic death at the age of 30.

The loosehead prop passed away unexpectedly on August 9, prompting tributes across social media.

Burke played his schools rugby with CBC and his club rugby with Cork Constitution before joining the Munster Academy in 2013.

He made his senior debut against Benetton in April 2017 and, a mong later, won an AIL title with Cork Con.

In a statement, Munster paid tribute to "a hugely popular member" of the club and said it was "deeply saddened" to hear of his death.

The province said: "Munster Rugby would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Sarah, and parents Paul and Karen and to Rory’s wider family and friends, at this very difficult time.

"He will be greatly missed by the Munster family and to all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

"May he rest in peace."

After his time with Munster, Rory played with Nottingham, where he made 30 appearances in two years, and Connacht.

The ex-Ireland U20 international was a member of Connacht's squad for the 2019/20 season.

Connacht said: "We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Sarah, parents Paul and Karen, and all his friends and family fortunate enough to have known him."

The tributes extended beyond the rugby sphere, with many condolences sent to the Corkman's family.

Shirley said: "Heartbroken by the news, what a great talent and a wonderful human being we have lost.

"A wonderful colleague. I will always remember his kindness. My deepest condolences to his family and dear ones. May his soul rest in peace"

Diana said: "Karen and family, I absolutely have no words, he was the apple of your eye, we had endless chats about him and the preparations for the wedding.

"I am devastated for you, I hope you will find the strength to get through this, may he Rest in peace"

Ethan added: "So sad to hear this terrible news. Always such a genuine fella.

"Sincere condolences to the Burke's and extended family."

Burke will be reposing at the Temple Hill Funeral Home, Boreenmanna Road of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd. on Tuesday (August 13th) from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.

Requiem Mass will be at 2.00pm on Wednesday (August 14th) in St. Patrick’s Church, Rochestown.

Funeral afterwards to The Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.
