SUNDAY night will see the biggest sporting occasion on the American calendar take place when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers battle the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tom Brady and Tampa Bay will have home advantage as it was decided it would be played in their Florida ground prior to the season kicking off.

Here's everything you need to know about the big game:

What Irish time does it start?

It'll kick off on Sunday February 7 at 11:30 pm.

The game usually finishes up around 3:30 am and it's worth remembering rather than the typical 12 minute half-time, there's an interval of around a half an hour where a mini-concert takes place.

What TV channel will it be on?

It'll be on Sky Sports Main Event with their coverage starting at 10 pm.

The BBC also broadcast it with a more newcomer-friendly approach.

Their coverage begins right at kick-off at 11:30 pm on BBC One.

Alternatively, you can watch it via The BBC Player or Sky Go if you're a Sky Sports subscriber.

Who is playing in this year's half-time show?

Canadian R & B singer The Weeknd is taking centre stage this year.

He has reportedly put $7 million of his own money into the production so one can only imagine it'll be a memorable show.

How many fans will be in attendance?

There will be 25,000 people spread out amongst the 65,000 seater Raymond James stadium.

In an effort to try and make the crowd look as full as possible there will also be 30,000 cutouts dotted around too.

Who's the favourite?

Last year's champs the Kansas City Chiefs are slight favourites having had a very impressive regular season finishing with a record of 15-1.

Their former league MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already being talked about as being one of the most talented passers ever despite still only being 25.

Meanwhile Tampa Bay's QB is at the other end of his career as 43-year-old Tom Brady has guided his side to his 10th Super Bowl appearance in his first year since joining from the New England Patriots.

They've had a more arduous route to get here as they only snuck into the playoffs as a wildcard at 11-5.

They have built up a lot of momentum though with three impressive road wins over Washington, New Orleans and Green Bay in the NFC title game.

The Chiefs possess the more explosive offense but the Bucs have the better defense which could ensure that Tom Brady winds up hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy for a seventh time by the end of the night.
