Hull City finalise deal to take Ireland ace Aaron Connolly on loan for the rest of the season

HULL CITY have finalised a deal to take Aaron Connolly on loan for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old had not featured for the Serie B club since returning from international duty with the Ireland under-21s in September.

This will be the Galway native’s third loan spell in quick succession having spent the second half of last season with Middlesbrough.

And he will hope that linking up with Liam Rosenior - whom Connolly knows from the manager’s time with Brighton as a player and coach - will help kickstart his career.

Brighton technical director David Weir said, “Aaron didn’t get the minutes he wanted in Italy so this is a good opportunity for him to come back to England and work with a coach he is familiar with.

“We wish Aaron all the best at Hull, and we’ll be monitoring closely how he gets on over the next few months.”

Connolly burst onto the scene in October 2019, scoring twice against Spurs on his first Premier League start for the Seagulls, before making his senior Ireland debut the following week.

But he has struggled to perform consistently since, falling out of favour, first with Brighton and then Ireland.
