Jack Byrne hilariously trolls Bohemians after Shamrock Rovers’ massive Dublin derby win

JACK BYRNE had some fun at Bohemians' expense after Shamrock Rovers secured bragging rights on Friday night.

The Hoops had a brilliant evening between taking all three points at Dalymount Park and Derry City slipping up against 10-men Drogheda United.

All of a sudden the four-in-a-row chasers are sitting just seven points off top spot in the table despite their stuttering start to the season.

And playmaker Byrne, who was instrumental in the 2-0 win along with fellow Ireland international Graham Burke, shared a (bus) post afterwards that would have delighted fans of the Tallaght outfit.

Posing alongside the Dublin Bus-themed dugout, he joked: "Good win tonight.

"Waiting on this 123 to get home. It's taking ages."

Earlier on in the evening there had actually been another amusing bus-themed moment.

The remote-controlled miniature bus stopped working whilst in the process of delivering the ball to the halfway semi-circle - much to the amusement of the 4,290 in attendance.

It proved a sign of things to come as the wheels came off a touch for the home side after their surprisingly brilliant start to the campaign.

BUS STOPPED

Neil Farrugia and Rory Gaffney scored the goals, Byrne provided the assists, and Burke added some sparkle on a night Rovers hit the high notes.

It could have been more than 2-0 as they took time to settle, then took control and never looked in danger of giving it up.

And the Hoops were happy to rub their Dublin 7 rivals noses in it too.

The Rovers’ players celebrated both goals in front of the visitors that led to bottles being thrown on the pitch and the Gardai public order unit to be deployed for a watching brief.

But that was the height of it, on and off the field.

The derby simmered but never boiled over as referee Rob Harvey kept a handle on everything.

He waved play-on when Farrugia and Adam McDonnell collided in one 50-50 thundering tackle, and the players responded in kind.

Bohs will regret not taking advantage of their quick start.

Dylan Connolly tested Alan Mannus inside the opening 40 seconds and then turned provider on four minutes to cut the ball back for Ali Coote whose angled shot was just wide.

But from that point on it was Stephen Bradley's side who seized control of proceedings and professionally steered themselves to a relatively comfortable statement win.
