The 30-year-old striker has two years to run on current deal at Carrow Road – with Forest prepared to offer £6miilion to take him to the City Ground this summer.

Forest boss Mark Warburton has £15m burning a hole in his pocket with the sale of top scorer Britt Assombalonga to Middlesbrough this week.

The 24-year-old bagged a brace for Forest on the final day of the season to keep the East Midlands side on the Championship, and his 14 league goals will have to be replaced.

SunSport understands Forest will have to bid a huge chunk of the Assombalonga cash for the Canaries to take them seriously.

Norwich also have money to invest following departures of Jonny Howson to Middlesbrough and Jacob Murphy to Newcastle.

New Black Cats manager Simon Grayson is in need of additional firepower to shoot the Wearsiders back to the top flight following the departure of Jermain Defoe to Bournemouth.

Grayson has signed James Vaughan who enjoyed a revival at Bury last term scoring 24 goals in League One.

Fulham have also been monitoring the Yorkshireman’s situation as they look to replace Chris Martin who has returned to his parent club Derby.

Jerome moved to Norwich from Stoke in 2014 and his return to goal scoring form has alerted the Championship big boys.
