United fans were loving it as they finally got a glimpse of the Armenian showing his Borussia Dortmund form

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN has scored his first goal for Manchester United in the country where he kickstarted his football career.

The Armenian midfielder spent four years in Ukraine with Metalurg Donetsk and Shakhtar Donetsk before moving to Dortmund in 2013.

And the man who netted 38 times for Shakhtar has now sublimely got off the mark against Zorya Luhansk in Odessa.

Picking up the ball in midfield, Mkhitaryan nutmegged the Zorya defender and beautifully sidefooted into the bottom corner.

United fans took to Twitter to express their delight that the Armenian was finally starting to look like the player they thought they had signed from Dortmund.

Mkhitaryan was frozen out of the United squad until recently as Jose Mourinho demanded he get to grips with the physicality of the Premier League.

But he impressed in matches against West Ham and Feyenoord as the Portuguese boss began to place more faith in him.

And his patience has paid off with a wonderful solo goal which looks set to secure United's path into the Europa League knockout stages.
