Football fans all saying the same thing after Ireland star Aaron Connolly is named in Championship Team of the Week

AARON CONNOLLY'S week got even better after being named in the Championship Team of the Week.

The Republic of Ireland international scored his first goal for Middlesbrough in their 4-1 win over Derby County.

The 22-year-old forward is on loan at the Riverside from Brighton & Hove Albion as he goes search for regular first-team football.

The Galway-native's good performance for Boro was recognised as he was named in the league's Team of the Week, alongside teammate Isaiah Jones.

Reacting to his selection, Connolly tweeted: "Hungry for more", leading to fans praising his performance.

'Hazel' tweeted: "Brilliant on Saturday Aaron, keep that up and we'll be up there come May #UTB"

Meanwhile, 'Marcus' added: "Superb against Derby keep playing that way you will be a big fan favourite here"

Their fellow supporter, with the username 'Holgate69' revealed that Connolly had said hello to his grandchild at the game.

GOAL GETTER

Connolly's goal against the Rams was his first since he scored in Brighton's Carabao Cup win over Swansea in September.

Speaking after the game, he said that he was delighted to end that long wait to hit the back of the net.

He said: "I just try to work hard for the team. Obviously, I was lucky enough to get the goal which obviously helps, gets the confidence back up again.

"The workrate just came along with that and, hopefully, I can score more goals, work hard for the team and keep us pushing at the right side of the table."
