THANKS to Wiretap being in the line-up, TURJOMAAN could go off odds-against in the 2.40 at Newcastle.
That would make him a very backable proposition after the way he won on debut at Ascot last time out.
He wasn’t knocked about there but he improved as the race went on to land a slightly cosy win come the finishing post. That was a stronger contest than this and you would expect plenty of improvement from that debut. He sticks to 7f today and it takes some getting at Newcastle, which is very much in his favour.

SWISSTERIOUS is taking a fair drop in class from the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar last time when he was totally snookered by a bad draw.
Before that he went close in good company at Doncaster over this trip and was far from disgraced in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York. He doesn’t face anything like that opposition here so should add to his winning tally.

SPANISH HISTORY (3.30 Yarmouth) finished with lots left in the tank when third at Kempton last time out.
That was his first run upped to this 1m4f trip and it could be that connections were concerned about him getting home.
He was asked to make up a lot ground in the closing stages and the line came too soon. Now it’s clear that he stays well, he should be a bit closer to the pace and can land an overdue first win of the season.
DEBATABLE looks hard to argue with in Yarmouth’s 4.00.
Michael Appleby’s filly had been knocking on the door in better races and too full advantage to win over course and distance by more than two lengths last time.
She has a 6lb penalty for that smooth success but her rider’s 5lb claim takes care of much of that.
We know the trip suits and she has a lot more to give, with some improvement still likely at this early stage of her career. The opposition doesn’t look that strong so another big run is on the cards.

STRIKE IT LUCKY 15: TURJOMAAN (2.40 Newcastle), SPANISH HISTORY (3.30 Yarmouth), SWISSTERIOUS (3.40 Newcastle) and DEBATABLE (4.00 Yarmouth).
EACH-WAY DOUBLE: KENNY THE CAPTAIN (2.10 Newcastle) and BREANSKI (3.10 Newcastle).
STAT’S A FACT: SWANSWAY (5.10) has only been out of the places once in his seven visits to Newcastle. That must give him strong claims today.
BREANSKI has two wins from three runs at Newcastle so is worth a close look in the 3.10.
He didn’t have much chance when midfield at York in a hot race last time given his bad luck in running. Before that he was an excellent three lengths off the pace in a big handicap at Ascot after landing three wins on the bounce.
One of those successes was here and he’s just 2lb higher than his last victory. This looks an open race but it would be a surprise if he didn’t make the frame.
