LOVE Island has produced some of the most impactful couples in showbiz history that are still going strong years after finding fame.

But arriving at the the finishing line of the ITV hit show doesn’t always guarantee everlasting love, with the odds often against the hopeful contestants.

Out of 11 series only three of the winning couples have managed to stay together.

And not all of those have been plain sailing, with one popular couple overcoming a split before resuming their love story.

Millie Court, 27, and Liam Reardon, 24, won Love Island back in 2021, and decided to split the £50,000 prize money.

Millie and Court have compared themselves to iconic comedy characters Gavin and Stacey because the two had to commute between Liam’s hometown of Wales, and Millie’s residence in Essex like the hit show's characters.

On December 26, Millie posted a picture on Instagram of her and Liam during their Christmas dinner, as well as a beautiful festive spread. She posted: “It’s a Gavin and Stacey style xmas.”

The couple have had a journey of ups and downs. In the Love Island villa, they almost split after Liam’s head was turned by Casa Amor bombshell Lillie Haynes, 25.

The Welsh native was tipped to dump Millie as he admitted to being “very attracted” to Lillie on the show.

Lillie had admitted on the show that Liam was her “type of guy”.

However, it didn’t take long for Liam to realise his heart belonged to Millie.

During the final, Liam left viewers at the edge of their seats when he asked Millie to be his girlfriend.

However, some viewers anticipated that he may have wanted to ask a more serious question - possibly a marriage proposal. Body language expert Judi James, 61, told The Metro that it had looked like it was a possibility.

Despite discussing planning a family and their future together, Millie and Liam called it quits back in 2022.

Months later in 2023, Millie revealed that she had been seeking therapy after she split with Liam, amid the amount of public attention surrounding their relationship.

However, as of December last year, they are now back together, and even enjoyed a romantic break in Wales, Liam’s hometown, to celebrate Millie’s birthday last December.

That same month, Millie publicly stated she would be taking her best friend, Chloe Burrows, 28, to Sydney for a whole two weeks - instead of her boyfriend Liam.

She wrote on her Instagram stories: “Me and Chlo are off to Sydney for 2 weeks in Jan!”

The friends met during the 2021 series of the hit show.

Millie recently shared her ideal Valentine’s Day on the podcast Chloe vs The World. She said: “My dream Valentine’s Day would be to wake me up in the morning and cook me a fry up and then just have really nice quality time together in the day, maybe do something fun like an activity so we’re off our phones.”

She continued: “And then, at the end of the day, have a lovely meal. It could be indoors, I’m not too bothered. At home I meant. And then go home and have sex.”

The happy couple can be seen regularly vacationing and attending events on social media - proving that home is truly wherever the heart is.

These Love Islanders defied the odds - and proved to many that it is possible to find true love on a reality show.

Cara De La Hoyde, 33, and Nathan Massey, 31, won the second series of Love Island back in February 2016.

They are now married with two children, Delilah and Freddie-George. However, their love story hasn’t been smooth sailing.

The former carpenter, and ex glamour model, split-up back in February 2017. A month later, Cara announced a shock pregnancy, to which Nathan was fully supportive every step of the way.

The couple reunited shortly after, and their son Freddie-George was born in December of that year.

Cara and Nathan had a small and intimate wedding in the summer of 2019. They welcomed their second child together, daughter Delilah, back in 2020.

Back in February 2018 - the couple created a joint Instagram account dedicated to the home they purchased together. The bio of their new page reads: ‘Welcome to our forever home. A home account with a difference, children live here & we’re not hiding it’.

The Love Islanders announced to their followers at the time: “Today mummy & daddy bought a house.”

The luxurious pad is adorned with a fitted wide screen TV unit, complete with a huge bath and silver bed.

The couple regularly posts their fairy tale union on social media.

Kai Faigan, 25, and Sanam Harrinanan, 24, won the Winter Love Island back in 2023 after the two quickly became fan favourites.

Kai entered the villa on day 1 and had originally coupled up with contestant Anna-May, 21. On Day 9, Kai found himself in the bottom three after receiving the fewest votes.

He was eventually saved after bombshells Jessie Wynter, 27, and Aaron Waters, 26, chose to dump Haris Namani, 22, from the villa.

Liam would leave viewers in uncertainty as to whether he’ll find a love - as he enjoyed a three way kiss with Salma Naran, 22, and Clarisse Juliette, 25.

On day 29, Kai chose to couple up with a new girl, Sanam.

The Islanders went on their first date in Week 6, and would eventually be crowned Love Island Winners.

Kai and Sanam recently celebrated Valentine’s Day together, with a picture of the two kissing in a champagne, red heart balloons adorned luxurious room.

Sanam shared the intimate moment with her almost half a million Instagram followers. She posted: “Thank you Kai for always going above and beyond to show your love to me. The time and effort you’ve put into doing this means the world.”

The joyous couple are very much in love, and going strong. Sanam has often gushed about her love of Kai, and goal for the two to start a family in the future.
