A LAWYER is building a team to "take on Fiona Harvey's case" and look at potential claims against the makers of Baby Reindeer.

Fiona, the real-life inspiration behind the character 'Martha' in the hit Netflix show, is now in discussions with barrister Chris Daw KC, after opening up about her experience in an interview with Piers Morgan.

During the discussion with Piers last week, Fiona, 58, accused writer Richard Gadd, 34, of "making money out of untrue facts" and described his account as a "work of fiction".

The programme, which had 13.3 million viewers tuning in during its first week, depicts comedian Donny Dunn - played by Gadd - being pursued by obsessive stalker Martha Scott, played by Jessica Gunning.

The character 'Martha' is jailed in the TV show, but Fiona says that she has no criminal convictions and has never been to prison.

Fans were quick to track down Fiona Harvey and identify her as the inspiration behind the obsessive stalker after Baby Reindeer launched.

Now Chris Daw KC, who previously acted for footballer Ryan Giggs, told The Sun he is building a team to take on her case.

He said: "I can confirm that I am currently supporting Fiona Harvey with media enquiries."

He added: "I am not as yet formally instructed to act for her as a lawyer.

"I am building a team of lawyers, to take on Fiona’s case and to look at all potential claims against Richard Gadd, Clerkenwell Films and Netflix.

"It will take some time to gather all of the evidence and prepare a legal claim, but that process is well underway.

"We are actively considering defamation, image rights and all other potential claims, arising from the use of Fiona’s image in Baby Reindeer."

The Sun has contacted Netflix and Clerkenwell Films for comment.

Mr Daw had previously told the Mirror that if it turns out that Fiona was never convicted of anything, then "Netflix and Richard Gadd will have a very big legal problem".

Speaking to Piers Morgan last week, Fiona denied being a stalker and widely disputed the events depicted in the mini-series.

The news comes as Richard Gadd blasted deluded Baby Reindeer sleuths who claim characters are based on them despite him having never met them before.

Gadd, speaking before the exclusive with Piers Morgan, said that he didn't want to talk anymore about speculation swirling around the show's real life counterparts.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I don’t think I’ll ever comment on it ever again.”
