West End and Pineapple Dance Studios star Louie, 55, then threw in his armband on the Channel 4 show led by former Royal Marine hardman Jason “Foxy” Fox.

A TV insider said: “He seemed thrilled to be surrounded by all the hunky instructors, who all came from military backgrounds that required them to have an elite level of fitness. But he was less enamoured with the regime they had to maintain, with Louie unable to keep up with them physically and mentally.

“Despite this he left without any bad feeling and was grateful for the opportunity — even though his experience was a brief one.”

In SAS: Who Dares Wins contestants take on a tough selection process for the elite regiment.

Celebs in the upcoming series, filmed last summer, include Love Islanders Chloe Burrows and Tasha Ghouri — who is also in the new BBC Strictly series.

Reality hunk Pete Wicks is also appearing in both shows.

Louis shot to fame in 2010 as the ostentatious artistic director on Sky1 show, Pineapple Dance Studios, which only lasted for one series.

From there he went on to become a judge on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother and Channel 4’s The Jump which saw him leave the show on the second day.
