Why did Dougray Scott quit X-Men as Wolverine?

At the end of the 1990s Dougray Scott landed the role of iconic and self-healing superhero Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s first X-Men movie.

However filming of Mission Impossible: II overran – and Dougray also injured his shoulder as filming of the comic book blockbuster got underway.

As a result, Dougray was forced to pull out of the film (so he didn't really quit the film) – pathing the way for Hugh Jackman to take the role and go on to giant A List superstardom.

Dougray isn’t bitter, however, revealing in 2013: “I’ve really enjoyed the movies I got to do and the TV work. I feel very fortunate anyway.”

He added to the Daily Record: “I like Hugh, he’s a really lovely guy. It wasn’t as if he stole it off me.”
