Mel B reveals she BINNED her £37,000 wedding ring after splitting from Stephen Belafonte

MOST of us would be straight down the pawn shop after a marriage split - especially if your ring cost five figures.

But Mel B was so ecstatic to be rid of ex-husband Stephen Belafonte that she ditched her £37,000 band after she walked out on him in 2017, even though she faced a costly divorce with just £800 in her account.

Mel made the confession in a debate about wedding bling with guests Jamelia and journalist Amy Nickell on Badoo’s Truth Flirts podcast, out tomorrow.

When Jamelia  explained: “I’m not wearing my wedding ring, because I lost it”, Mel cheekily confessed:  “I didn’t lose my wedding ring, I threw mine.”

According to divorce docs, the former Spice Girl squandered close to £38 million during her marriage.

But she described walking out penniless as liberating, saying: “I took back my freedom”.

Mel, who has a child with Eddie Murphy and was linked to Zac Efron before The Sun revealed her romance with hairdresser Rory McPhee last month, also ruled out dating a celebrity again.

She said: “I’ve dated like, really high-end celebs and they were lovely people but it just wasn’t for me in the end.”

Revealing daughter Phoenix wants her to date a basketball player, she said: “It’s because she wants front row tickets. So for that reason alone, I’m like no.”

I hope whoever she ends up with doesn’t blow too much on jewellery.
