What TV Bafta has A Very English Scandal been nominated for?

The three-parter has been nominated for the Best Mini-series award at the TV Baftas.

And on top of that national treasure Hugh Grant has been nominated for the Leading Actor award.

While co-star Ben Whishaw has been given a nod in the Best Supporting Actor category.

And actress Monica Dolan has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

When did A Very English Scandal air on BBC? and how can I watch it?

A Very English Scandal was aired in June 2018, concluding on Sunday, June 3 on BBC One.

It was available to stream on BBC iPlayer but unfortunately is no longer.

There were three hour-long episodes that focused on John Preston's novel of the same n04ame.

It tells the shocking true story of Jeremy Thorpe, a disgraced member of parliament who in 1979 was tried but later acquitted of conspiring to murder his ex-lover Norman Scott.

Jeremy was an accomplished violinist as well as an MP and died in 2014 aged 85.

What is A Very English Scandal about?

A Very English Scandal tells the shocking true story of Jeremy Thorpe, a disgraced member of parliament who in 1979 was tried but later acquitted of conspiring to murder his ex-lover, Norman Scott.

The three-part drama is set in the late 1960s when Thorpe was the leader of the Liberal Party and his former lover was threatening to expose him for being in a homosexual relationship during an era when it was illegal within the laws of the UK.

A BBC statement explained: "The trial of Jeremy Thorpe changed society forever, illuminating the darkest secrets of the Establishment.

"The Thorpe affair revealed such breath-taking deceit and corruption that, at the time, hardly anyone dared believe it could be true."

Who is in the cast of A Very English Scandal?

Hugh Grant heads up the cast of the BBC drama. The 57-year-old actor portrays the role of Jeremy Thorpe MP.

It was Hugh's first fully-fledged return to a TV drama series since the 1990s.

Hugh Grant is most recognised for his high-profile film work with a lengthy resume including About A Boy, Notting Hill, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Bridget Jones's Diary and Cloud Atlas.

Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said of Hugh's casting: "Hugh is one of our most iconic British actors - sharp, witty, deeply human and nuanced - and to have him play one of the most controversial figures of British politics is utterly thrilling."

Other cast members include Ben Whishaw as Norman Scott and Monica Dolan as Marion Thorpe.
