A Red Bank building that was slated to house an iconic Dayton Boulevard restaurant is for sale.

The freestanding building at 3512 Dayton Blvd. was to have held an updated Mojo Burrito eatery. But the restaurant shut down its older location at Dayton Boulevard and Signal Mountain Road in 2022 before it could move north into the other building.

The original Red Bank location had been closed for several weeks before a final announcement, according to newspaper archives. A post on the restaurant's Instagram page at the time said an earlier temporary closure was due to a broken water heater and other complications related to the age of that building.

Owner Eve Williams had kept that location open after closing the St. Elmo store in January 2021 following 19 years of serving burritos, nachos and other Tex-Mex items, archives said. She closed the Ooltewah location the year prior, citing difficulties in finding staff as the reasons for both closings.

Plans had been to move into the renovated space at 3512 Dayton Blvd. For many years, the location held a Shoney's restaurant.

The property sits on nearly one acre with the building boasting 4,812 square feet, according to Jeremy Parker of Keller Williams Realty Greater Downtown.

The site's asking price is $1.7 million.
