Overview

This year’s World Population Day, which is observed on 11 July each year, will be marked in anticipation of a landmark growth of the global population, which is projected to reach 8 billion on 15 November 2022.

The Population Division, in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), organized a regional workshop for Anglophone countries in sub-Saharan Africa to improve national capacity in population projections. The workshop was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 7 to 11 March 2016.
