Watch Dana Carvey Show Off His Trump Impression for Jimmy Fallon

The Republican frontrunner has been a gift to impressionists.

“I’m not saying I want Donald Trump to be President,” Dana Carvey told Jimmy Fallon on Friday’s Tonight Show, “but I never want to live in a world where Donald Trump isn’t running for President.”

If anybody would know about the benefits of nailing an impression of a presidential candidate, it would be Carvey. The former Saturday Night Live standout was the go-to man for celebrity impressions in his cast, to the point where, during the 1992 election campaign, he was portraying President George H.W. Bush and independent candidate Ross Perot in debate sketches.

“He should’ve been out of this weeks ago,” Carvey said, before launching into his signature Trump bit. If you’ve seen Trump on the campaign trail, you’ll recognize it: gesticulating hands framing his face, shrugged shoulders to suggest simple truth-telling, outlandish proclamations at the ready.

Trump wasn’t the only political figure in Carvey’s arsenal either. “No matter what your politics are,” he told Fallon, “everyone in this room would pay money to see Donald Trump in a room with Putin.” The prospect of which has Carvey positively giddy, as you can see in the above video.
