Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup were married on Friday, as made evident to the world when the 54-year-old British-born, Australian-raised bride made the announcement over Instagram on Saturday.

“Hitched!” she wrote in a caption for her 1.7 million followers, next to emojis of a dove, a knot, and a heart. The image was taken on the steps of the New York County Supreme Court building, around the corner from City Hall. The photo was credited to Jason De Beer, Watts’s manager and co-producer on several of her recent projects.

In her Instagram stories, over an image of her bouquet, she wrote “Flowers from the deli!!” proving her New York bonafides to an astronomical degree.

But as US points out, her dress was less of a last-minute-thing. The Oscar de la Renta Water Lily Gutpure Lace Maxi Dress retails for $4,900. The 54-year-old Crudup, a four-time Tony-nominee born on Long Island, wore a navy suit. Watts and Crudup have been an item since 2017

V.F. reached out to extend hearty mazel tovs and to see if the couple had any additional comment, but did not hear back. It's a nice day out, they are probably enjoying themselves.

The announcement of matrimony was met with pronouncements of extreme joy in key corners of the internet. Here is a representative tweet from entertainment journalist Jackson McHenry.

The best part of Watts’s Instagram announcement is that, at least as how the algorithm serves it to me, the top response comes from Watts’s former partner of many years, Liev Schreiber, who wrote “Congratulations!!! Gorgeous!!!” The two actors co-parent two sons. Is it weird to get misty-eyed about social media posts from two people you don’t actually know in real life? Don’t answer that!

Crudup and his former partner Mary-Louise Parker also have a son, who is 19. This is both Watts and Crudup's first marriage.

Other digital well-wishers included Julianne Moore (she wrote “FINALLY!!!!”), Isla Fisher, Andy Cohen, Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Lily Rabe, Kate Bosworth, Liv Tyler, Sarah Silverman, Julianna Margulies, Michelle Pfeiffer, Octavia Spencer, Chloë Sevigny, Justin Theroux, Lucy Boynton, Melanie Lynskey, Teresa Palmer, and, perhaps most importantly, writer and producer Lisa Rubin. Why most importantly? Because it was on her television series Gypsy, released on Netflix in 2017, where Watts and Crudup first met. She deserves ten percent of the deal!

After the ceremony, Watts and Crudup raised a glass with two other couples—Mark Ruffalo and Sunrise Cougney, and Josh Hamilton and Lily Thorne
