2025 Super Bowl Odds: Chiefs Draw Steady Stream Of Offseason Action

Super Bowl odds tend to be slow-going in the heat of summertime. Bettors aren't quite ramped up for the NFL, even if that league is the king of the American sports betting landscape.

But the Kansas City Chiefs are defying that trend, at least at The SuperBook. The public is piling on the Chiefs early and often in odds to win Super Bowl 59, set for Feb. 9 at the Superdome.

Here's everything you need to know about the push on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl odds market: action, movement and betting trends.

Back in February, before Kansas City topped San Francisco in Super Bowl 58, The SuperBook already had Super Bowl 59 odds on the board. The 49ers opened as +600 chalk, followed by the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens at +1000.

Fast-forward a few months, and the Niners are into +450. But K.C. has made the bigger move, now sitting at +500. The latest move came in early July, from +600 to +500.

It's been a steady stream of offseason wagering on Patrick Mahomes & Co.

"It's all public money, but it's similar to what we talked about with Week 1 against Baltimore. The public is ready to reinvest the winnings they made betting K.C. as a 'dog in the playoffs last year," SuperBook risk supervisor Chase Michaelson said.

And some of that action is notably large.

"Of the five biggest Super Bowl tickets, the Chiefs are on three of them," Michaelson said.

Kansas City has won the past two Super Bowls. Over the past five decades, plenty of teams have been in that boat, which has never stayed afloat for a third consecutive championship.

"It's pretty hard to win three in a row. The Steelers and Dolphins couldn't do it in the 1970s, the 49ers couldn't do it in the '80s, the Cowboys and Broncos couldn't do it in the '90s. And New England never did it," Michaelson said. "So history would tell you that it's unlikely, especially in the salary cap era.

"The Chiefs are gonna have a totally different wide receiver corps than last year. They lost their best defensive back [L'Jarius Sneed]. And Mr. Swift is a year older."

Mr. Swift of course being standout tight end Travis Kelce, who remains in the good graces of one Taylor Swift.

"There's lots of reasons why, as oddsmakers, we have to look elsewhere," he said.

But when it comes to Super Bowl odds, there's still the X-factor of Mahomes.

"No. 15 is the best I've ever seen. If anybody can win three in a row, it's him," Michaelson said. "So I understand where the public is coming from. Bet K.C. until you can't anymore."
