When it comes to curating an image, Lady Gaga’s imagination knows no bounds. Since the British Vogue cover star first burst onto the scene in 2008, with the infectious “Just Dance”, the pop icon has undergone more beauty transformations than you can shake a stick at. And the world has always been here for it. But of course, behind every global superstar is a team of hairstylists, make-up artists, facialists, brow experts and body sculptors whipping them into shape. Because not everyone is born that way. To find out more, Vogue takes a look at the beauty and wellness routines behind that gorgeous Gaga glow.

The hair

There simply isn’t enough time to namecheck every hair colour, style, length and accessory that Lady Gaga has worn over the years. Although, the meat headdress and Lichtenstein-yellow locks do stand out. One person who can certainly keep track, however, is Gaga’s longtime hairstylist and wigmaker, Frederic Aspiras, who has been working with the singer since 2009. From bows fashioned out of hair to Elvis Presley-inspired sideburns, together with Gaga, Aspiras has created some of the most brilliantly bonkers, avant garde looks in pop culture history, which Gaga paid tribute to at the Daily Front Row’s annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards in 2019, where she presented him with the award for hair artist of the year.

The Make-Up

As you would expect from someone who has built their own beauty empire, Lady Gaga knows how to give good face. And that is in no small part due to longtime make-up artist and global artistry director of Gaga’s Haus Labs, Sarah Tanno. The embellished under eye and supersized gold lashes look Gaga wore to the 2019 Met Ball? That was Tanno. Meanwhile her most recent work will shortly be coming to a screen near you, she’s also the mastermind behind every look Gaga wears as Patrizia Reggiani in the hotly anticipated biopic, House of Gucci.

The Brows

When it comes to creating a new look for Gaga, a lot of the time it starts with the brows, which is where Tanno, Gaga’s make-up artist and official brow keeper, once again comes in. Bleached out, brushed up, pencil thin, fringed and jewel-encrusted – you name it Tanno has tried it. Her secret trick? The newly launched Edge Precision Brow Pencil from Haus Labs.

The Skin

To get that famous Gaga glow, the singer makes regular visits to celebrity facialist Joomee Song, who she’s been seeing since 20214. Steeped in Korean and Japanese traditions, Song’s facials aren’t like regular facials. Focusing on the sinuses, jaw and mouth, which is where we hold a lot of our stress and tension, the treatments work to improve circulation and reduce puffiness and inflammation, leaving your face look sculpted and more relaxed.

The Body

To get her body in shape, Lady Gaga has been working with fitness and wellness guru, Harley Pasternak, for years. While she gets most of her cardio in from performances and rehearsals, her workout sessions focus mainly on abs, with 35-minutes of resistance training. Her main technique? Bicycle crunches. But she also loves yoga, Pilates, horse riding and swimming.
