The most-talked-about aspect of a runway show is often not the collection but the crowd. Over the last few years, New York Fashion Week has seen an explosion of A-listers, cross-legged and contemplative, alongside magazine editors and fashion writers. Paris Fashion Week, which for many years was the smallest and most rarified of fashion events, has also seen a rise in attendance by American fashion devotees rubbing elbows with mainstays like Catherine Deneuve, Emmanuelle Béart, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
