Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has an affinity for burgundy, especially when it comes to her beloved coat dresses. From the Catherine Walker style with velvet detailing – which she wore to the Commonwealth Day celebration in 2020 (the same one she wore on Christmas day in 2018) – to an Emilia Wickstead favorite paired with a Jane Taylor pillbox hat at an event to host President Cyril Ramaphosa last month, wine-colored outerwear is a mainstay in her wardrobe. So, of course, she had to wear her favorite hue to go caroling this Christmas.

Kate Middleton made burgundy her signature look for the holidays

At the Together at Christmas carol service held at Westminster Abbey, the Princess of Wales wore a burgundy ankle-length coat dress with gold buckle details on each side of her waist. The ensemble was finished with accessories in the same shade, including drop earrings, a clutch bag, leather gloves, and a pair of velvet pumps.

At the event, Princess Charlotte was also seen wearing the same color coat as her mom, suggesting that the festive hue is a favorite among the family.
