Kate Middleton hurt her fingers in the most mom way possible

Kate Middleton is a mom first, princess second. At a recent solo visit to Surrey to learn about the work that the Forward Trust does inside High Down prison, the mother of three kept her kids close to her heart, wearing delicate gold necklace engraved with the initials of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis designed by Daniella Draper. So sweet! But fans also noticed a less glamorous accessory: bandages taping two of her fingers together.

Did she strain a tendon trying on heavy jewels? Crush a knuckle in a bare-fisted boxing match? Alas, nothing so dramatic. A spokesperson for Kensington Palace told People that she suffered “a small injury, nothing serious,” while playing on the trampoline with her kids. The outlet also has a very thorough investigation into when the princess’s hand was and wasn’t bandaged over the course of the weekend…if you’re…into that?

The injury did not prevent the stylish royal from gesturing, thankfully.

She’s gotta keep her fingers together anyway for that little wave they all do, right?

As we all know, trampolines can often lead to serious injuries like sprained ankles and broken arms. I would imagine that hundreds of thousands of people bruise their fingers every year, but these statistics aren't available because probably no one keeps track of such minor injuries, and in any case, it didn't immediately pop up when I googled “trampoline finger injury statistics.” I did, however, find this Consumer Product Safety Commission hazard report from 1996 that lists the (very rare) cases of fatal trampoline accidents.

We assume the royal trampoline has passed any and all safety inspections. Only the best for Kate Middleton.
